How to get free publicity on Yahoo Messenger for your new website/ blog

March 25th, 2008 · No Comments

Note: This will only take you 1 minute to do.

Besides the usual way of sending multiple messages to your contacts, there is a much better way to get people to visit your site.

Step 1: Click on your Yahoo Messenger status bar

Step 2: Select New Status Message

Free publicity on Yahoo Messenger

Step 3: Enter your site’s domain complete with the “http://…” Then enter the message or title of your website you like people to see. I suggest you go for a catchy message to capture the attention of your contacts. Do remember to leave a space in between your domain and message.

Step 4: Once you are done, click OK.

You have a choice to check on the Show Busy Icon if you wish not to be disturbed, or for the fun of it, giving people an impression that you are busy having fun.

Step 5: This is what mine looks like.

Simple steps to broadcast your new site/ blog or any updates to your contacts in Yahoo Messenger in 1 minute.

That’s all. Done.

Step 6: This is what your contacts will see. They can now go to your site by 1 click.

Just 1 minute needed to get free publicity in Yahoo Messenger

Your message will appear first before your domain. Good to choose a catchy headline.

Best 1 minute spent!

We had a Mission:-

We believed in ourselves and we did it.

What did we do on that very 1st day that allows Google & Yahoo! to index us within 24 hours?

Referring to the advice from LiewCF’s blog, here is what we did, with minimal cost, without going for AdWords, and with a twist of our own.

  1. Select a good domain and then register a hosting.
  2. Setup a blog by using Wordpress & select a Wordpress theme.
  3. Add in Wordpress pluginsAll-in-one-SEO-pack, ShareThis, Popularity-Content…etc
  4. Install Adsense, Google Analytics, Google XML Sitemaps, Feedblitz …etc
  5. Create About us, Contact us and our 1st post.
  6. We submit our blog to search engines – Google, Yahoo!…etc
  7. Commented in forum.
  8. Commented in digg, del.icio.us, twitter, technorati, friendster, sharethis, blogger, ziki…web 2.0 & social bookmark sites.

How to know if your email is not being sold to the spam list?

March 24th, 2008 · 1 Comment

When we sign up for free newsletters or free e-books download, just before the submit button, there’s a line saying “Your email will never be shared with anyone. We hate spam as much as you do” or something similar.

Fine. So we sign up.

The next day, when you check your email, you see 20 emails with our name in the subject “<name> Increase your…”, “Free report for <name>”, or “<name> Check this out…” etc… all vying for attention.

We think “What is this?!” I did not sign up for all this spam!

It appears that for whatever reason our email had been slam dunked into the list of “wonderful world of spam”.

Shouldn’t these websites deliver what they promised? “100% No spam! We hate it as much as you do…” Apparently our feelings are not mutual.

How to know which of the website(s) is/are responsible for this, especially when we subscribe to 5, 10, 20 newsletters?

One good method:-

Before we hit that “submit” button with our name and email, make sure we make a mark on our name. Give it a special code. E.g. if your name is John and you are signing up with abc123.com newsletter, enter your name as “Johnabc123″ or “abc123John” or any codename you fancy.

That way, when the spams arrive, oh boy do they arrive in grand pomposity, each demanding our special attention… From the subject header with our “codename” we will know which website had generously submit us to the spam list.

Any suggestions you like to share?
